As an adoptive parent (I’m one of two dads with two adopted boys) ‑ I’ve learned to lower my expectations when it comes to seeing families like mine represented in the world around me. When I stumbled upon this shoot from Shaw Photography Co., I was taken aback by my emotional reaction. It’s so rare to see adoption stories represented so sensitively and authentically, and in that moment it really struck me how important it is to see families like mine portrayed in a positive way. The road to adoption can be long and gut‑wrenching and images like these go a long way to combat the challenges and remind us that families can be formed in many different ways.
