Animals have a broad appeal and an uncanny ability to evoke empathy in a variety of audiences. As visual content experts, we know that imagery of animals is a perennial favorite for easily conveying concepts and building connections with customers and viewers alike. At Getty Images, we also understand the power of our platform to continually expand the range of inclusive and authentic visual content in the marketplace.

The Amanda Foundation is the only non‑profit animal charity in the Los Angeles area to own and operate a full service veterinary practice which helps provide the care these rescue animals may need.

The Amanda Collection celebrates one particularly expressive and highly appealing group of creatures: rescue animals. Emerging from an innovative partnership between Getty Images, Saatchi & Saatchi and The Amanda Foundation, this unique collection of images features the Amanda Foundation's rescue cats and dogs, who each have an individual story and are available for adoption.  From three‑legged Boxer mix, Oli, to a kitten who was rescued from the engine of a car, these animals represent a spirit and resilience that radiates in their portraits and make this collection particularly poignant. During our recent photoshoot at the Amanda Foundation, Getty Images Chief Entertainment photographer and fellow animal lover, Neilson Barnard, took some beautiful portraits of the current residents while the Studio at Getty Images team shot some behind the scenes video. It was very hard for our team to depart without every animal in tow, but all agreed it was the most fun we’ve have had on a shoot in a long time.

For over 30 years the Amanda Foundation has been rescuing dogs and cats from Los Angeles city and county shelters, which are often at full capacity. The foundation provides a safe haven for these homeless cats and dogs where they receive care, love, and medical attention until they are able to find them a loving "furrever" home. It is the only non‑profit animal charity in the Los Angeles area to own and operate a full‑service veterinary practice which helps provide the care these rescue animals may need. The Amanda Foundation also operates the Spaymobile, California's most successful free mobile spay/neuter program. It's a state of the art mobile surgical unit staffed by veterinarians who specialize in high volume spay/neuter. They offer free services to low income, underserved areas where data proves the majority of animals entering LA's shelters originate. Last year over 3 million pets were euthanized in shelters across the country.  Pet rescue programs like The Amanda Foundation and Spaymobile work hard to reduce this number.

Every license of an image in this collection helps support the foundation, which in turn helps save more animals, making a symbiotic partnership that assists in amplifying visibility and awareness of rescue animals everywhere

Rather than just providing one‑off support for this cause, Getty Images is doing what we do best ‑ creating compelling portraits of The Amanda Foundation’s animals for our network of nearly one million customers.  Every license of an image in this collection helps support the foundation, which in turn helps save more animals, making a symbiotic partnership that assists in amplifying visibility and awareness of rescue animals everywhere.

Getty Images believes in the power of imagery to move hearts, minds, and opinions. The incredible images in The Amanda Collection not only provide people with useful visuals of adorable cats and dogs, but each one also represents an animal that has been saved.  After all, Amanda means "worthy of love" in Latin.  We couldn't agree more.
